Reading in the Bible this morning over breakfast, I came across this verse in 2 Peter 3:14, loaded with meaning-
“…be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless”.
I sat back and gave that little admonishment some thought. We as Christ-followers are called to live in peace- an inner peace found by dwelling in Him and His Word, and live at peace with others, both in the fellowship of believers and those we encounter out in the world. Even Paul wrote, “As much as possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with all men.” Romans 12:18
Then I pondered the next two words, spotless and blameless. It occurred to me that “spotless” is a personal condition, that of being free from stain, which comes from living a pure, simple life before God. “Blameless” is how others see someone who is spotless, i.e. without accusation. See 1 Peter 3:15-16
Simple truths, yet so powerful. Live in peace, live without impurity, and be a blameless, living witness of the life and love of Jesus Christ. It doesn’t get any more direct than that.
